Company, work and conferences
As mentioned earlier I moved with my family from Sweden to Spain for awhile. To complicate things further me and my girlfriend Malin created a new company called Dotvoid AB focusing on web sites and applications based on PHP. (So expect things to change around here in 2009 – though no timeplan or schedule exists). [...]
International PHP conference in Frankfurt 2007
Yesterday was the first day of the International PHP Conference. I listened to Lars Jankowfsky in his session “Practising Agile Development”. Although different methodologies were mentioned it was mainly a one day session on how Extreme programming works. The session had a good mix of fun och seriousness. One of the reasons I wanted to [...]
PHP Conference
I have been to the International PHP Conference in Frankfurt a couple of times. Last year I didn’t go as the quality of the conference 2005 wasn’t what I think one should expect.
This year seems to be different though. A whole slew of interesting sessions on PHP mixed with a few sessions on agile development. [...]
New conference coming up
Expo-C in Karlskrona, Sweden, have always been a treat. The last conference was held last spring and focused on agile principles and test (behaviour) driven development. Language wise it was great. Java, Ruby, C#, Python and even Visual Basic had their slots. One thing was missing though. My favourite language PHP. After the conference I [...]
Expo-C and Behaviour Driven Development
I have just spent two days with a collegue at the conference Expo-C in Karlskrona, Sweden. The first day of the conference was a treat. Dan North from Thoughtworks had a whole day on the topic “Health Factors for Agile Development”. A whole day of agile discussions without one single powerpoint slide. Well spent time. [...]
The international PHP Conference
It’s almost a week since I left the PHP conference in Frankfurt. At first I was quite happy with it. It was really nice to get down there and talk to so many nice people. I had very interesting chats with Kaj Arnö, VP of open source community relations from MySQL and Jeremy Johnstone from [...]
Busy – taking a pause
I have been way too busy the last couple of weeks. I’m working on a flashy new portal as well as my old content management system Firesite CMS. In Firesite I have always used a rather limited but ok wysiwyg editor for html content authouring. In a recent project I realized that the editor just [...]
Aspect oriented programming and PHP
Today I attended the Expo-C conference in Karlskrona, Sweden. Today was seminar day with a series of sessions on different software architectures. Even though they primarily used Java and .NET rather than PHP or C++ to discuss topics in a more practical a few of the sessions were really good. (Hopefully they’ll learn that better chairs is [...]
Architecture conference in Karlskrona, Sweden
I was really surprised to find out that there is an upcoming software architecture conference, Expo-C, that is going to be held in Karlskrona where I live. Even though it is mainly geared towards Java, the conference could be interesting as the topics include aspect oriented programming and SOA architectures. The price is not too [...]
I will not be there…
I will not be able to go to the International PHP Conference in Frankfurt this year. Even though the conference is set in an extremely boring industrial area outside of Frankfurt last years conference was great. The sessions and the powerworkshops I attended last year were all worth every penny spent.
The only thing not worth [...]
