The MongoDB vs MySQL debate…

Same stupid debate as so often before. Just the topics are different from time to time. Found via the Swedish Utvbloggen, RWWhighscalability och myNoSQL.

Why are you reblogging the video if it’s stupid?

Personally, I would have been interested in your thoughts on the topic. :-)

I guess I was a bit unclear. The movie is not stupid. The debate is – sometimes – just plain stupid. Maybe it is the media, maybe not.

Every now and then a new technology comes along that goes about business a bit differently. The pattern is always the same. Some cry loudly about how they used technology X years ago. Others say all the old stuff is bad – really bad. Actually useless compared to the new. Yet others take a stand and points out the flaws. And oh the flaws. They are many and all big as supernovas.

My view? I think new solutions to old problems are interesting. I think there is a lot to learn. And I always try to remember what I learned so many years ago at university; “choose the right tool for the job”.

To be honest, unfortunately I haven’t really had the time to look into NoSQL much…

I though this would be some boring crap, but it turned out to be a useless hell-of-a-joke.

  7. I LOVE /dev/null and heartily recommend that my competitor’s write to it.
